YELLOW CABBAGE, or SCROLL CORAL
Fairly common on fringing reefs and lagoon patch
reefs. Primarily horizontal plates with widely
spaced calices 2.5mm in diameter, fluorescent green over brown base with
bright yellow margins.
Forms a species complex with Turbinaria
mesenterina, which largely differs in color. Red Sea to the
Society Islands, excluding Hawaii.
All
coral skeletons illustrated are from scientific collections taken prior
to 1998. |
