DIPLOASTREA CORAL

A distinctive species locally common along reef dropoffs.  Large domes up to several meters wide, evenly-spaced exsert corallites with granulated ribs.  Color variable, tan, brown, gray or green.  Red Sea to Samoa, excluding Hawaii.  Formerly part of the Family Faviidae.
