BRAIN CORAL
Common on
shallow reefs. Forms hemispherical colonies or encrusting,
undulating M-shaped ridges with central depression of variable width,
polyps confined to deep trench between ridges. Yellowish,
grayish-brown, or tan. Sculpture finer than Colpophyllia natans.
Bermuda, Florida to Venezuela.
