COMMON CACTUS CORAL

Very common on shallow reefs and within lagoons, sometimes forming colonies several meters in diameter.  Variable with a mixture of single polyps and meandering ridges around a row of polyps, ridges with low alternating ribs with short rough teeth obscured by flesh, varying shades of brown, frequently with pale centers and fluorescent red or green overtones.in shaded areas.  Red Sea to Japan and Pitcairn.
