SMOOTH STAGHORN CORAL

Rare in shallow protected areas where it forms thickets.  Branches long with few divisions and short axial corallites, radial corallites small and scale-like near the growing tip, becoming immersed without lip toward the base.  Tentacles usually extended during the day.  Pale yellowish-tan.    Indonesia to Samoa.
