CITRON or LEMON BUTTERFLYFISH
Goma-chochouo
Common alone or in small groups on shallow algae-dominated reefs but
extremely rare in Hawai'i. Blue dots in diagonal rows, and distinctive black
& white border on anal
fin. A skittish species that feeds upon benthic invertebrates, coral polyps, and
filamentous algae. Attains 5 inches. East Africa to Japan,
Hawai'i, and the Marquesas. |
