Common with Acropora Table Corals upon which it feeds almost exclusively.  Nearly absent in Hawai'i except at French Frigate Shoals, and adults rarely survive around the other islands where they must feed upon Montipora.  A solitary species that vigorously defends its territory from competitors.  Attains 7 inches.  Red Sea to French Polynesia, rarely in Hawai'i.
