Abundant but rarely seen under rocks and
dense seaweed on shallow
barren reefs; in Hawai'i often hidden in clumps of alien
Gorilla
Seaweed. Olive green to brown with red-orange fin margins dark
bars on head, and white dot on caudal peduncle, caudal fin rounded.
Attains 2.5 inches. Formerly known as Apogon
waikiki. Red Sea to Japan and French Polynesia,
including Hawai'i.
