Common on weedy reefs in the surge zone.  Ocellus on dorsal fin fades with age, gray with black scale edges, dark spot on caudal peduncle, pectoral base plain; juveniles orange above, black spot on caudal peduncle.  Attains 4 inches.  North Carolina to Venezuela.
