HAWAIIAN or THOMPSON'S ANTHIAS
Harems are rare along ledges exposed to current
deeper than 80 feet around the Main Hawaiian Islands but in as little as
30 feet at Pearl &
Hermes Reef in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Ovate with a
pointed snout, orange fading to pink below, pink lines on the cheek, and
tail lobes without magenta. Attains 9 inches. Endemic to
Hawai'i.
