PARROTFISH
Common on Caribbean coral reefs.
Males with wide purplish-brown stripe through the eye,
bordered by blue stripes forming a Y, yellow cheek, and caudal fin with
lavender rays; females
with pale unmarked caudal fin, two stripes on belly of orange-brown
dashes, juveniles with yellow snout. Attains 11 inches. Bermuda,
Florida to Brazil. Similar to the Princess
Parrotfish. Often misspelled as Scarus iserti. |
