CURLED 'OHI'A LEHUA

The most common & widespread of member of the genus. Shrub or small tree of middle to high elevations from Oahu to Hawaii.  Ovate to suborbicular leaves with rolled margins & undersides densely coated with hair.  Apex rounded to retuse, base cordate.  Flowers red, rarely orange, yellow, or white.
