PAINTED SPINY LOBSTER

A large, thick-bodied species inhabiting shallow reefs exposed to surge.  Antennae white with pink base, striped legs.  Attains 16 inches.  Red Sea to French Polynesia.  Several were captured along the west shore of Hawaii Island which are presumably accidental releases from an aquaculture project.
