ARMED NYLON SHRIMP
Abundant at depths from 800 to 1200
feet where it is trawled or trapped. Entire doral surface of rostrum
toothed, prominent red ring on each side, leg sections alternately red and
white, large rearward-facing spine on 3rd abdominal segment. This
species probably feeds in the water column and lives shallower than the
larger Heterocarpus laevigatus. Attains
carapace length of 1.5 inch, usually less. Circumtropical and
subtropical.
