MUD SHRIMP

Common in muddy sand burrows and under stones on very shallow reef flats.  Body is soft and vulnerable to predators.  Difficult to positively indentify species without detailed examination, Includes Neocallichirus variabilis and Neocallichirus jousseaumei.  Attains 3 inches.  Hawaii and the Indo-West Pacific.
