Family Alcyoniidae

ELEPHANT-EAR or TOADSTOOL LEATHER CORAL

Common on shallow reefs exposed to current and surge or along dropoffs in clear water.  May become invasive and displace hard corals.  Difficult to determine actual species without dissection.  Preyed upon by cowries of the Family Ovulidae.  Red Sea to French Polynesia.
