PURPLE-LIP JEWEL OYSTER

Locally common in shallow water and tidepools.  Shell extremely thick, smooth with fine concentric growth rings, interior margin smooth, purple.  Attains 5 inches.  Indo-West Pacific, including Hawaii.  Formerly known as Chama iostoma.
