PURPLE-LIP JEWEL OYSTER   KUPEKALA

Locally common in shallow water and tidepools.  Shell extremely thick, smooth with fine concentric growth rings, interior margin smooth, purple.  Attains 5 inches, 125 mm.  Red Sea to Korea, Hawaii, and French Polynesia.  Formerly known as Chama iostoma.
