HECTIC AUGER
|
A rare
species found along beach slopes below the high water mark. Spire often
damaged, extent of dark banding variable. Feeds on worms at night
using its broad foot as a sail to surf up and down the sandy slope with
successive waves, quickly burying as the water recedes. Attains 3.2 inches,
80mm.
