AURATINUS CONE  

Uncommon in sand under slabs at scuba depth.  A large shell with fine spiral striae, straight sides and a rounded shoulder.  Larger and smoother than Conus auricomus, rounder shoulder than Conus aulicus.  Attains 4.8 inches, 120mm.  Philippines to Okinawa, and French Polynesia.  A subfossil shell was found at Midway Atoll, but live or fresh specimens have not been found.
