CAPTAIN CONE  

Very rare in Hawaii on sandy reefs, but common elsewhere.  Shell heavy, spire whorls with three spiral grooves, two broad greenish-brown bands and a well-defined white midboby band, numerous spirals of dark brown squares, aperture violet toward base, juveniles olive green.   Attains 3.9 inches, 98 mm.  East Africa to Japan, Samoa, and Hawaii.
