CHALDEAN CONE  

Fairly common partially buried in sand on shallow reefs exposed to surf.  Shell thick, spire coronated with spiral grooves, body whorl glossy with beaded spirals and a variable pattern of black flammules, aperture white, animal striped black and tan with a red-tipped siphon.  Attains 2.3 inches, 59 mm, but typically half that.  South Africa to Japan, Hawaii, French Polynesia, and Ecuador.
