Common
in dead coral heads or in sand under rocks deeper than 30 feet, where it
preys upon small fish. Light
and fragile, lavender with brown blotches, juveniles dull orange.
The animal is tan mottled with brown.
Attains 1.7 inches, 44 mm.
Red Sea to Japan, Hawaii, and French
Polynesia.
