CALF or RINGED CONE  

Locally common on sandy reefs at any depth.  Solid with a spirally grooved spire and beaded spirals toward the base, white with two brown bands and brown flammules, aperture edged with purple, juveniles blended orange and brown.  The animal is bright yellow and the periostracum has spiral ridges.  Attains 3.2 inches, 82 mm.  East Africa to Japan, Hawaii, and Pitcairn.  Formerly known as Conus vitulinus.
