KAY'S BONNET or HELMET
| Uncommon in sand deeper than 30 feet, but dead shells are common in
drift or hermit crabbed. Shoulder with obsolete cornations, outer lip & columella
thick, four sharp denticles along bottom of outer lip, aperture wine. Attains 2.5 inches.
Philippines to Okinawa, Hawaii, and French Polynesia. Formerly
lumped together
in Hawaii with Casmaria ponderosa. |
