TRITON'S TRUMPET Pu
| Uncommon on high-relief reefs deeper than 10 feet, where
overcollecting hasn't eradicated the population. They prey upon
coral-killing sea
stars and sea cucumbers.
A trumpet is created by removing the apex.
Attains 19.3 inches, 490 mm. Red Sea to Hawaii, Japan, Pitcairn, Cocos
Island, and the Galapagos. Member of a worldwide species complex. |
