LEATHER MUDWEED
Alien invasive species that grows in sandy mud at any depth.
Numerous short fan-like blades arise from a
bulbous holdfast, forming dense meadows which trap sediment, choking out
native species.
Accidentally introduced to Hawaii around the 1980's. Native to the
Indo-Pacific. Formerly known as Avrainvillea amadelpha. |
