Fairly
common on reefs at any depth. Females dark brown with small white dots
overall, males dark blue with brown above and large white dots and an
orange margin. Hawaiian and Mexican males usually lack orange dots
on the side. Attains 6 inches. East Africa to Japan,
Hawai'i, French Polynesia, and the Tropical Eastern Pacific.
