HAWAIIAN GARDEN EEL

Locally common
in aggregations on sand flats exposed to current at deeper scuba depths.
Extends vertically from burrow to feed upon zooplankton and retracts
completely when approached. Attains 3 feet and a diameter of
one-half inch. Endemic to Hawai'i.
