PELAGIC BLACKTIP SHARK

An uncommon species of coastal and open water, they congregate near shore in pursuit of schooling fish such as Akule and sardines.  Ill-defined black tips on all fins except the dorsal and upper caudal lobe.  The lower caudal lobe always has a black tip.  A light stripe on rear half of body.  Often leaps out of the water and spins to dislodge parasites.  Attains 8.5 feet.  Hawai'i and warm seas worldwide.
