GLASS ANEMONE
| Abundant in tidepools, holes, and under rocks in shallow water.
Transparent with brown, yellow, or green color provided by embedded
photosynthetic cells called zooxanthellae. Hawaii, Tropical Pacific &
the Eastern Pacific, accidental introduction to the Atlantic and
Mediterranean by ships. Formerly known as Indo-Pacific Aiptasia
pulchella and Atlantic Aiptasia pallida. |
