BANDED SAND ANEMONE

Rare in muddy sand in tidepools exposed to wave action or subtidally in Halimeda kanaloana beds of Maui & Lana'i.  Purplish-brown with yellow mouth, tentacles with pale rings.  Retracts rapidly when disturbed.  Attains column width of 0.5 inch.
