MERTENS' CARPET ANEMONE

Large species on hard reef exposed to current, inhabited by several species of anemonefish.  Drapes itself over the substrate, tentacles close-set and moderately short, brown or green, sometimes with white bands along margin, column with orange verrucae.  Preferred host of Orange or Skunk Anemonefish.  Red Sea to Japan and Vanuatu.
