Common on vertical surfaces exposed to current or surge.
Inner margin is purple with brown ribs. Pearlfish take shelter
within the mantle cavity. Attains 6 inches. Red Sea to
Japan, Fiji, and Hawaii.
Spondylus tenebrosus and Spondylus violacescens
are synonyms.
