OPEN DRUPE   MAKALOA

Locally common on rock faces exposed to breaking waves, where it preys upon 'opihi limpets.  It tends to be encrusted by coralline algae. Attains 3 inches, 75 mm.  Endemic to Hawaii.  Formerly known as Drupa aperta, Purpura aperta and Thais aperta.
