SPECKLED NERITE  PIPIPI

Abundant under stones in brackish water along the shoreline, usually submerged.  The black shell has microscopic spiral grooves and white speckles, the inner lip has six teeth, and the dark gray operculum has a peg.  Attains 0.6 inch,  15 mm.  Endemic to Hawaii.  Formerly known as Theodoxus neglectus.  Easily confused with the entirely black Nerita picea.
