LAYARD'S ALLOCHROA

Locally common under stones or in dark crevices in the splash zone and high intertidal near freshwater seeps.  Stout, six whorls, with variable spiral grooves and axial striae, and a wider aperture than Allochroa bronnii.  Attains 0.3 inch, 8 mm.  Mauritius to Japan, Hawaii, and Pitcairn.
