WICKERWORK SPINDLE
| Common under rocks at any depth,
except Hawaii, where it is extremely rare.
Cream with red or dark brown axial ribs which may be narrow and sharp,
or low and wide, crossed by sharp spiral keels. The shell pictured
is unusually dark and smooth. Attains 2.4 inches, 61 mm. South
Africa to Okinawa, Samoa, and Hawaii. Formerly known as Latirus
craticulatus. |
