Fairly common in small groups or pairs, stays close to the reef where it feeds upon zooplankton and benthic invertebrates.  May clean parasites from other fish.  Attains 8.5 inches.  Has longer snout than H. diphreutes.  East Africa to Japan and French Polynesia, excluding Hawai'i.
