FLEA CONE  

Juveniles are abundant in sand adjacent to reefs deeper than 25 feet, while large adults are locally common within sand pockets and channels in shallow water.  Easily located following meandering trails in the sand.  Shell shape and degree of spotting is variable with size and among individuals.  The shell is coated by an orange periostracum and the animal is tan.  Attains 3 inches, 75 mm.  Red Sea to Japan, Hawaii, and the Tuamotus.
