LINCKIA CAP SHELL

These parasitic, limpet-like shells are rarely found beneath Linckia sea stars. Attains 0.5 inch, 12mm. Red Sea to Hawaii and the Cook Islands. The lump on the sea star's upper surface (underside in photo) indicates the presence of the Linckia Gall Shelll, Stilifer linckiae.
