Locally common
under stones in shallow water. The shell is domed with a nearly
flat base and flared marginal callous. Attains 1.5 inches 37 mm.
Central Baja California to the Galapagos and north Peru. Formerly
known as Cypraea arabicula. A dead specimen
was found at a remote location on Maui, which is possibly the first
record in Hawaii, pending confirmation of a living specimen. A handful of Eastern Pacific reef fish species
have arrived via currents due to El Nino, and this is the first
gastropod record. |
