Abundant throughout the Indo-Pacific under rocks in shallow water but rarely found alive in Hawaii.  Subfossils are common in old reefs above sea level and dredged material.  Attains 3 inches, 75 mm.  Red Sea to Japan, Hawaii, and French Polynesia.  Formely known as Cypraea erosa.
