Very rare in the main Hawaiian Islands,
and uncommon at
Midway and Kure. Found on red sponge under rocks or rubble and within caverns in shallow
water. Shell is thick and broad compared to Alison's Cowry
with dark spots on base and calloused on both sides. Attains 1.4 inches,
35 mm.
Endemic to Hawaii. Formerly known as Cypraea burgessi. |
