ZEBRA HORN

Uncommon under dead coral or rubble at any depth around the Main Hawaiian Islands, more common in the NWHI, common in shallow water outside Hawaii.  Whorls nearly straight, suture shallow, strong varices, aperture less than 1/4 length of shell, color variable.  Attains 0.5 inch, 13 mm.  Red Sea to Japan, Hawaii, and French Polynesia.  Long confused with Cerithium boeticum in Hawaii, which is comparatively stubby, and Cerithium zonatum, with rugged spiral cords.
